How do I change my shape?
Do you want your own Before & After?
I don’t sell quick fixes. I won’t recommend detoxes, diets, or juice plus fads. What I do love is lifestyle change. If you’re asking “How can I lose my mummy tummy?” or “Do I have to do 100 sit ups a day to get a flat stomach?” then this is aimed directly at you.
The best results come from good quality exercise. Not ab exercises, not sit ups, not crunches, and definitely not long, drawn out cardio workouts on the treadmill. Don’t waste your time with those. Seriously.
No; what I mean is quality exercise. Exercise that is going to improve your muscle tone, your core strength, and your posture. I’m talking about learning how to swing a Kettlebell without comprising your lower back. Learning how to squat properly. Learning how to Deadlift with great technique. Or learning how to engage your midsection effectively in a plank. The difference between switching on your transverse abdominus muscle in ANY core exercise can mean the difference between having a strong midsection and a weak one. How many of you have tried a celebrity abs workout and not felt like you were doing it properly? I know some of you have!
Especially if you’ve had children, and who are now a little bit older; like Claire. I love a good ‘Before & After’, and this is one of the best. Claire has been my client for little over a year and a half, and has always set herself realistic goals. Claire is a business owner, and a mother and hasn’t always had time to commit to her own fitness goals.
Over the last year, we worked on all of these exercises, and focused on Claire’s ability to train well, and recover with good nutrition structured around her own busy work/life schedule. By focusing on these quality exercises, all the fat burning, shape changing, and muscle toning that we wanted to see was happening as Claire got stronger. No emphasis on weight loss, instead I asked Claire to focus on shape change. I’m a big advocate for measuring progress by how you look, and how you feel, and not by how much you weigh… but that’s enough for another blog post!
Claire has now ‘moved the goal posts’ and wants to improve her ability to lift in more advanced exercises, as training has become something that is her time.
Don’t waste your time with gruelling ab workouts.
“If you want to feel amazing, enjoy the gym and be introduced to a challenging fitness programme then I would recommend Rob Newman. He is the most genuine, non judgmental and encouraging PT I have met.” – Claire
